When Work Sounds Like This

For the past year, I have been working not only for long working hours but in different positions/departments that I can possibly be in to maintain what the company sees as a 'standard'. But, what is the 'standard' holding such positions, in such departments that pretty looks like 'a one man show'.

I knew I had to be in the Training department, which I was most comfortable of with the positions/departments that I helped out with. But, the language barrier is where I had to work on, which was quite similar when I was in Saudi. Being a passion of mine, I can't just walk away from training, whether be it in the classroom or in the outlets doing practical training. I am a trainer by heart!

Then, my actual position now is being in the an operations auditor. It's a hard task in such a way that I need to check all the outlets if they are performing the 'standards' or not. If not, then the process of reporting and completing the task is next. It's not the task I'm concerned of, because I know I can handle it, but it's my mobility. I have no car with no means to buy, much more there is no way for me to drive now.

Without, the operations manager, I am tasked to handle the operations department, until a new guy comes in. It's a task that I rather give someone else, it's too stressful for me to handle the operations. Day in, day out, there are problems and even on my day-off, I would receive calls that need my assistance. Handling this for a few months before and a month now, it drains the live out of me. It makes me tensed up and have a very thin line of blowing up when problems arise.

Another department is marketing, having no one handling the department. I still need to step in. Handling calls, meetings after meetings with agencies from online discount sites, newspaper sales executives, advertising agencies and more. But, what I like about this, is being to meet a lot of people from different fields, learning from them about marketing. It's a nice job that keeps my time tight for my tasks.

Then, there was a time that I assisted purchasing department for opening new stores. Knowing the 'standard' items for the company, I would need to join in to buy items that will be used for the operations. A task that I would rather not go into, but a satisfying one to say at least. The advantage is that I would know where I can buy cheap items that I can use for my house in the future.

So, it sounds there is too much to handle! The answer? An emphatic YES. As we say in here... What is your name today? Is it Trainer, Auditor, Operations Manager, Marketing Exec, or Purchasing Exec?
