Father and Son...

Being the only son made it easy for me to be the favorite son of my Tatay. Having no competition, it was easy for me to have the things I wanted. I had all the toys that I wanted to have, I chose the best rubber shoes for me to play basketball, I had all sorts of shirts, shorts, sporting apparel and equipment, and watches that I had my eyes on. I would even have my parent consent form signed even before it went to my Tatay's hand, of course I allowed myself to join any excursions we had. When I asked for a basketball court at the backyard, I had one. When I asked to go out here and there, it was just fine with him as long as I am safe coming back home.

I had my Tatay to help me in my assignments and edit my school papers. I learned how to play basketball because Tatay was willing to give time to play when he was on work on Saturdays. I learned everything about computer because he taught me to.

But, other than that Tatay taught me two important lessons in life. First, is to appreciate love especially our family. He taught me that it's not always me who is just to receive love from our family, but I must share it to all. It's not always about me, but it's about sharing the love. He taught me that it is wrong to fight my with sisters, nephews and nieces.

The second most important lesson in life my Tatay taught me was being independent. He gave me the luxury to decide for myself. He would just say okay for any request I would have and learn from the mistakes I made from there on. He gave me free will to most of the things I do, all by myself, for me to grow as an individual and as a person.

Thank You Tatay for all the things that you taught me in my life and career. I Love You.

Happy Father's Day!
