What Is Important This Christmas For Me?
As I have been out of the country for that past nine years, I have only celebrated Christmas for one time in the Philippines. Unfortunately, we were not complete anymore with my mother already with God in the heavens above. This year our family lost a pillar of our family, my grandmother who taught as all about life.
Christmas is more than just meeting family, friends and enjoying the birth of Christ. Christmas is not complete without Christ in it. With all the festive feast that every family will be enjoying on that day, one must always keep Christ in the center of this special day.
As for me, being away from my family and friends to celebrate Christmas. I will offer this day to Christ our Lord. As this is the most important thing to do in Christmas. Though it would be sad Christmas for our family losing our grandmother just last month, it will be hard for us to find our smiles. But I am also thankful that my grandmother's life ended with the love of everyone who knows her dearly. I am thankful that all her suffering has ended and she will be in a happier place now.
I would offer this Christmas to my grandmother who always gave us strength and life lessons to keep moving forward with our lives in the most subtle ways. It's celebrating Christmas with the purpose. The purpose of living the life I had, honoring Him, and thanking Him for all that He has given me. It's a lifetime full of surprises and challenges that will determine my destiny.
So, these are the things that are important for me this Christmas... How about you?
