While People are Talking About the Elections
While people are posting on facebook about our recent elections in the Philippines, I can say now that all have subsided and my timeline is back to normal things about life, whether it is about their family trips, dinners or their frustrations in life or relationship goals.
It was a long arduous election campaigning and showing off their bets for this upcoming elections, which made me think. Your vote is private and confidential and no one is supposed to know who you would be voting for. Well, that is what you do when you are already voting. You get your ballot while hiding it with a folder and then inserting it to the voting machine. But when you want to make sure your bet wins, then you need to campaign for him/her. So, then it no longer becomes private and confidential.
Well, I am not complaining. I am just stating the fact. Now, with the social media it is easy to campaign for our bets, whether the person is paid to do so or not, you would do it. Social media has again made it clear to us that it is one of the best tools in bringing about issues, such is true with the elections. Whether good or bad, people have posted their reasons for voting for their bets, which was not possible before.
So, while people are talking about the elections, I kept my peace and was undecided until the end. I knew I wanted someone, but I just never found a reason to talk about the elections during the time of its hype in the social media. I commend those who made their voice and defended their bets, but sometimes I feel irritated of every day seeing posting their bets multiple times in a day to show their support on their bets. I fel more furious with people showing the bad sides of the other candidates just to let everyone see that their bet is better than the other candidate. Then we complain on bad politics, when we ourselves are part of the bad politics in the Philippines.
I admit, I registered, but not voted, for reasons that I want to keep it private. So, while people was voting here and there, from the time it opened overseas, I wanted to, but it's something I have no control with. I would also keep the candidates I wanted to vote private, as it should be. For me, I am happy for the results, though my candidates won or lost, there would be a new beginning for the Philippines.
Whether people see Duterte capable of doing his job or not, it is something that we need to respect and honor. It's a new beginning, a new life, a new journey. We would not know our future, if it's good or bad, but one person cannot do all things for the country, it is the citizens of our country to take the lead and (re)build Philippines as a great nation.
I always tell people, how hard it is to run a country like the Philippines, why? Because we have 7000+ islands and easy to run Singapore, why? Because it is just as big as Manila. Well, I just hope this new life that the people are happy with because of a new president for our country will be inaugurated next month, will bring forth his platforms to life to make a better Philippines in the future. God Bless our Land, God Bless our People, God Bless all of us.
